Overcasting Foot (G) ‘MANUAL’

An overcasting foot is a presser foot designed to help you sew neat, clean fabric edges that look almost like they came from an overlocker (serger) — but using your regular sewing machine.  It is useful when you don’t have an overlocker — or you don’t want to set one up — the overcasting foot is the next best thing for tidy, durable seam finishes.

What it’s used for:  Finishing raw edges so they don’t fray, Overcasting stitches (zigzag‑style stitches that wrap the fabric edge), Preventing tunnelling or puckering when sewing edge finishes, Creating a faux‑serged edge on woven fabrics

Why it works so well:  It has a small metal bar or guide in the centre. This holds the fabric edge flat. It also keeps the thread from pulling too tight, so your stitches sit neatly on the edge. The foot’s shape helps the fabric feed evenly while stitching right along the edge.
