RJ1 Ribber Jacquard Carriage

An RJ1 Jacquard carriage is a specialised carriage used on certain Silver Reed / Knitmaster electronic knitting machines to knit Jacquard (fair‑isle‑style) patterns using the ribber in combination with the main bed.

It’s different from the standard RJ1 ribber carriage — this one is specifically engineered for Jacquard knitting, where each colour is selected automatically by the machine’s patterning system.

What the RJ1 Jacquard carriage does

• Knits Jacquard patterns using two colours across both beds
• Works with the machine’s electronic patterning to select needles
• Allows you to knit:
  • Double‑bed Jacquard
  • Birdseye Jacquard
  • Multi‑colour motifs with a smooth reverse
  • Thicker, reversible patterned fabrics

How it works

• The main carriage handles colour selection on the main bed
• The RJ1 Jacquard carriage knits the corresponding stitches on the ribber bed
• Together, they create a double‑layered patterned fabric where floats are hidden between the layers
• This gives a professional, machine‑knit finish similar to commercial sweaters

Typically used with Silver Reed electronic machines such as the SK840 (and similar models) paired with the SRP60/60N ribber.
